Orbitium is a community-owned protocol without any centralized leadership. To facilitate the vision of true decentralization, Orbitium will be managed by a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization).

Developing a community and a governance framework is a significant task that requires careful planning with checks and balances to ensure its success. The DAO will evolve through three stages:

  1. Early days - During the early stage, the project team has complete control over the protocol, and no voting takes place. This is necessary because urgent bug fixes and issues may arise that require immediate action, which cannot be decided democratically.
  2. Semi-decentralization - In the semi-decentralization stage, the Orbitium team will still have complete control of the project and can fix urgent bugs as needed. However, for non-urgent decisions, the team can gather input from the community through a forum or an off-chain voting mechanism such as snapshot.
  3. Complete decentralization - During the complete decentralization stage, the project is fully decentralized and all decisions are made through a strict procedure, with all voting conducted on the blockchain.
